Mission Profile

Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS, Indian Space Station) is India's planned national space station, being developed by ISRO with the goal of hosting Indian astronauts in low Earth orbit from around 2028 onward. Planned for launch aboard LVM3 and future Next Generation Launch Vehicles, BAS will initially be a small station of around 20 tonnes before expanding to a larger facility. India's Gaganyaan crewed spacecraft program is being developed in parallel as the crew transport vehicle for the station. BAS represents India's ambition to join the small group of nations operating permanent crewed space infrastructure and supports the broader Gaganyaan program that aims to make India fully self-sufficient in human spaceflight.
