Mission Profile

NGLV (Next Generation Launch Vehicle, also called the Unified Launch Vehicle) is India's planned next-generation heavy-lift rocket under development by ISRO to dramatically increase the country's launch capacity and reduce cost through reusability. Designed as a two-stage vehicle with a planned maiden flight around 2031, the NGLV is intended to carry a significantly larger payload than LVM3 and to support both uncrewed heavy missions and India's human spaceflight program. The vehicle represents the centerpiece of ISRO's long-term strategy to transform India into a globally competitive launch services provider, with the goal of capturing a larger share of the international commercial satellite launch market while also meeting national space infrastructure needs.
