Mission Profile

GSAT-29 is an Indian high-throughput geostationary communications satellite launched on 14 November 2018 aboard the LVM3 (GSLV Mark III) rocket, designed to provide high-bandwidth broadband connectivity to remote and rural regions of India, particularly underserved areas in the northeast. The 3,423 kg satellite carries Ka-band and Ku-band payloads specifically targeting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, and the northeastern states, which have historically been underserved by terrestrial broadband infrastructure. GSAT-29 was the second operational payload launched by LVM3 following the GSAT-19 technology demonstrator and validated the new rocket's performance for heavy geostationary missions.
