GSAT-19
🇮🇳Mission Profile
GSAT-19 is an experimental Indian geostationary communications satellite launched on 5 June 2017 aboard the LVM3 (GSLV Mark III) rocket on its first orbital mission, primarily serving as a validation payload for the new heavy-lift vehicle rather than an operational communications platform. The 3,136 kg satellite carried Ka- and Ku-band payloads for broadband communications experiments and a Li-Ion battery technology demonstration payload relevant to future ISRO satellites. GSAT-19's launch was a milestone for India as the LVM3 rocket it flew on became India's most powerful operational launch vehicle, capable of lifting 4,000 kg to GTO.
