Mission Profile

Dream Chaser Cargo System (DCCS) is Sierra Space's partially reusable lifting-body spaceplane designed to deliver pressurized and unpressurized cargo to the International Space Station and deorbit for a conventional runway landing. Contracted under NASA's Commercial Resupply Services 2 program, it would launch atop a Vulcan Centaur rocket and glide to a landing at a conventional runway, enabling the return of up to 1,750 kg of science samples and cargo from the ISS. Dream Chaser traces its lineage to NASA's HL-20 lifting body concept from the 1990s, providing a reusable alternative to the expendable Dragon and Cygnus cargo vehicles. The program has faced significant schedule delays and as of 2026 has yet to complete its first orbital flight.
