Mission Profile

Lunar Orbital Station (LOS) is a Russian concept for a crewed orbital station in lunar orbit, proposed by Roscosmos as Russia's contribution to or alternative to the NASA-led Lunar Gateway. Envisioned for launch in the late 2020s aboard an Angara-derived super-heavy rocket, LOS would support periodic crewed lunar surface expeditions using a separate Russian crewed lander. The concept has remained a planning document without confirmed funding, and Russia's participation in the international Gateway program became uncertain following geopolitical developments from 2022 onward.
