Sever Lunar Spacecraft
🇷🇺Mission Profile
Sever Lunar Spacecraft was a Soviet concept for a crewed lunar base module or spacecraft that would support extended crew stays on the lunar surface, studied in the context of Soviet post-Apollo lunar ambitions of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The concept envisioned pressurized habitation and laboratory modules that would be pre-deployed robotically before crew arrival, building toward a permanent Soviet lunar presence. Like all Soviet crewed lunar surface programs beyond the initial landing attempt, Sever was cancelled as the N1 rocket's failures made the baseline crewed landing unachievable and fiscal priorities shifted to Earth-orbital stations.
