Archinaut
🇺🇸OSAM-2
Mission Profile
Archinaut (OSAM-2) is a NASA-funded technology demonstration project by Made In Space, designed to demonstrate in-space manufacturing and assembly by using a robotic arm and 3D printing system to construct large spacecraft structures directly in orbit rather than launching pre-assembled hardware from Earth. The concept would extend meter-scale structures far beyond what fits in a rocket fairing, enabling much larger solar arrays, antennas, and structural elements than could be launched conventionally. Archinaut is a precursor to the broader OSAM-2 (On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing 2) program vision of building satellite infrastructure on orbit, potentially transforming the economics of large space systems.
