Mission Profile

Dragon 2 (Crew Dragon / Cargo Dragon 2) is SpaceX's human-rated spacecraft and upgraded cargo vehicle, launched on Falcon 9 rockets and capable of transporting up to seven crew members or pressurized cargo to low Earth orbit. First flown unmanned in March 2019 and with crew aboard in May 2020, Crew Dragon restored US crew access to the ISS following the Space Shuttle's retirement and ended American reliance on Russian Soyuz capsules. The vehicle is partially reusable, with the capsule refurbished and reflown multiple times, and has accumulated the most crew-hours to orbit of any American spacecraft since the Shuttle. Dragon 2 also serves as a cargo configuration delivering pressurized supplies and returning cargo to Earth under NASA's CRS-2 contract.
