Lunar Lander Soyuz A Concept
🇷🇺Mission Profile
Lunar Lander Soyuz A Concept was a Soviet early conceptual design for a crewed lunar landing system based on combining the Soyuz spacecraft with a dedicated lunar landing module, part of the broader early Soviet lunar program architecture studies from the early 1960s. The concept envisioned using an Earth-orbit rendezvous approach where multiple Soyuz vehicles would assemble and provide the propulsion and crew accommodation for a lunar expedition. This approach was ultimately deemed too complex and mass-intensive compared to the N1-L3 direct approach, and the Soyuz A concept was not pursued beyond preliminary planning stages.
