Dragon XL

Mission Profile

Dragon XL is a SpaceX cargo spacecraft under development for NASA's Gateway Lunar Orbital Platform, designed to deliver up to 5,000 kg of pressurized and unpressurized cargo to the lunar vicinity in support of the Artemis program. Unlike the Earth-orbit Dragon, Dragon XL is a non-reusable vehicle launched atop a Falcon Heavy and designed for the significantly higher energy requirements of lunar orbit delivery. Contracted under NASA's Gateway Logistics Services program in 2020, Dragon XL represents SpaceX's entry into the deep space cargo logistics market, extending the Dragon heritage to cis-lunar operations for the first time.
