Gateway Spaceport

Mission Profile

Gateway Spaceport is a conceptual commercial space habitat and tourism facility proposed by the Gateway Foundation, envisioned as a large rotating wheel station in low Earth orbit providing artificial gravity accommodations for tourists, researchers, and commercial tenants. The design draws on classic rotating torus station concepts going back to von Braun's proposals from the 1950s, updated with modern materials and commercial business models targeting the expected growth of orbital tourism. Like the related Voyager Station concept, Gateway Spaceport faces enormous financial and engineering challenges and has not progressed beyond concept studies, though it represents the growing commercial interest in orbital hospitality infrastructure.
