Spirit of Mojave

Mission Profile

Spirit of Mojave is Stratolaunch's specially developed carrier aircraft, the world's largest aircraft by wingspan at 117 meters, built around two modified Boeing 747 fuselages joined by a shared center wing. Originally designed to air-launch Stratolaunch's proposed orbital rockets, Spirit of Mojave has been repurposed to carry and release Talon-A, a hypersonic test vehicle developed by Stratolaunch for government and commercial hypersonic research. The aircraft's enormous wing area and twin fuselage configuration allow it to carry large payloads on a pylon mounted between the fuselages, releasing them at altitude over the Pacific Ocean for unpowered or powered test flights. Spirit of Mojave completed its first Talon-A launch in March 2024.
