Mission Profile

Just Read the Instructions (JRTI) is SpaceX's autonomous spaceport drone ship (ASDS) stationed on the US West Coast and used to land the first stages of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets following launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The converted offshore oil platform barge is equipped with a hydraulically repositionable landing pad, Autonomous Drone Ship (ADS) propulsion and station-keeping systems, and the Octagrabber robot that secures the booster to the deck after landing. First operational landing on JRTI occurred on 8 July 2018. The ship's name, like its East Coast counterpart Of Course I Still Love You, is a reference to a spacecraft in Iain M. Banks' Culture science fiction series.
