Mission Profile

MV Shannon (originally MV GO Navigator) is SpaceX's Atlantic Ocean capsule recovery vessel, used to retrieve Dragon 2 crew and cargo capsules after their parachute splashdowns in the Atlantic Ocean off the Florida coast. Converted from an offshore support vessel, the Shannon is equipped with cranes, a wet deck, and personnel trained to secure the floating capsule and transfer it safely aboard for return to Port Canaveral. The vessel supports the Florida-based SpaceX Dragon missions launched from Kennedy Space Center, complementing the Pacific recovery ship used for west-coast Dragon flights and SpaceX's drone ships used for Falcon 9 booster recovery at sea.
