Mission Profile

The Thor LV2F Burner 2 (Thor LV-2F Burner 2) was a two-to-three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, pairing a Long Tank Thor first stage with a Burner 2 solid-fuelled upper stage under the Thor IRBM Program. Standing 23.5 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 52.2 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in September 1966, the Thor LV2F Burner 2 launched classified military satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base into polar orbits for reconnaissance and military support missions.
