Mission Profile

The SSLV (Small Satellite Launch Vehicle) is a three-stage Indian solid-fuelled small launch vehicle in the SSLV family, designed by ISRO for rapid, low-cost delivery of small satellites to low Earth orbit. Standing 34 m tall with a 2 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 120 tonnes, it generates 2,460 kN of first-stage thrust and can deliver 500 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in August 2022, the SSLV suffered a partial failure on its maiden flight but succeeded on its second mission, establishing a dedicated small satellite launch capability for India.
