Mission Profile
The Scout F1 (Scout-F1) was a four-stage American all-solid launch vehicle in the Scout family, the penultimate Scout variant with improved Castor IV first stage for increased payload capacity. Standing 25 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 21.3 tonnes, it generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 183 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in May 1975, the Scout F1 launched small NASA scientific and international cooperative satellites from Wallops Island and the San Marco platform.
