Mission Profile

The Delta 1914 (Thor-Delta 1914) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, using nine Castor II solid rocket motors, an Extended Long Tank Thor, and a TE-364-4 third stage. Standing 35.4 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 130 tonnes, it generated 1,556 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 660 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in November 1972, the Delta 1914 launched the NOAA ITOS weather satellite series and other NASA scientific payloads.
