Mission Profile
Atlas F Trident (HGM-16F Trident) is an early space launch configuration using the Atlas F ICBM booster with the Trident solid upper stage for deploying small military satellites to specialized orbits. First flying on 9 August 1961, it stood 25.1 meters tall with a 118,000 kg launch mass. The Trident stage provided a compact solid-propellant kick motor for precise final orbit injection when the full Agena D restartable upper stage was not required.
