Mission Profile

Scout X-3 is a four-stage solid-propellant launch vehicle in the Scout family representing the third major variant in the series, featuring improved Castor IIA main motors and updated guidance systems. First flying on 16 December 1962, it stood 22 meters tall and could deliver 68 kg to LEO. Scout X-3 served both NASA scientific missions and DoD technology demonstration payloads, continuing the Scout program's role as a cost-effective small orbital launch solution.
