Mission Profile
The Angara A5 KVTK (Angara A5V, KVTK Oxygen-Hydrogen Upper Stage) is a planned three-to-four-stage Russian heavy-lift launch vehicle in the Angara family, an upgraded variant with a cryogenic KVTK hydrogen/oxygen upper stage for heavy geostationary and deep-space missions. Standing 64 m tall with an 8.9 m cross-section diameter and a projected liftoff mass of 790 tonnes, it generates 9,610 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 38,000 kg to low Earth orbit or 12,000 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. With a planned first launch around 2028, the Angara A5 KVTK will provide Russia with its most capable launch vehicle for heavy and crewed missions.
