Mission Profile

The Atlas D OV1 (SM-65D OV1) was a two-to-three-stage American launch vehicle in the Atlas family, a refurbished Atlas D ICBM used to launch small Orbiting Vehicle (OV1) military research satellites under the Atlas ICBM Program. Standing 25.1 m tall with a 3.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 118 tonnes, it generated 1,630 kN of liftoff thrust. First flying in January 1965, the Atlas D OV1 launched a series of small military technology demonstration satellites as part of the Air Force's OV1 programme.
