Mission Profile

The MTKVA / MTKVP (variant 1) (Multiuse Transport Ship, МТКВА/МТКВП) was a proposed two-stage Soviet super-heavy reusable launch vehicle concept in the MTKVA family, an early study for a fully reusable space transportation system. Standing approximately 58.8 m tall with a 7.7 m core diameter and a projected liftoff mass of 2,400 tonnes, it would have generated 34,840 kN of thrust. Conceived around 1974, the MTKVA was an ambitious reusable concept that prefigured many elements of the later Energia-Buran system but was not pursued beyond the study phase.
