Mission Profile

The OBV (2 stage) (Orbital/Suborbital Boost Vehicle 2-stage) was a two-stage American solid-fuelled suborbital launch vehicle in the Pegasus family, derived from Pegasus technology for missile defence target and interceptor testing. Standing 16.9 m tall with a 1.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 23 tonnes, it generated 1,600 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in June 2010, the OBV was used by the Missile Defense Agency for ground-based midcourse defence intercept testing.
