Mission Profile
Atlas LV-3 Agena B is a two-stage launch vehicle pairing the Atlas LV-3 booster with the Bell Agena B restartable upper stage for reconnaissance satellite and interplanetary science missions. First flying on 12 July 1961, it stood 28.7 meters tall with a 120,000 kg launch mass. Atlas LV-3 Agena B launched the first successful Ranger lunar impact probes and multiple classified Discoverer/Corona reconnaissance satellite missions that provided critical intelligence during the early Cold War.
