Mission Profile

Blue Scout 2 (SLV-1B, RM-90) is a four-stage solid-propellant launch vehicle developed by LTV Electrosystems for the US Air Force as a small suborbital and near-orbital test vehicle. First flying on 3 March 1961, it stood 14.6 meters tall with a 5,900 kg launch mass and could carry instrumentation payloads to high altitudes for atmospheric and missile defense sensor testing. Blue Scout 2 was an evolutionary step in the Scout solid-propellant launch vehicle family.
