Mission Profile

The Atlas V Phase 1 Alternate Fairing (EELV Phase 1) was a proposed two-stage American launch vehicle concept in the Atlas family, an early Atlas V design variant with an alternative payload fairing studied during initial EELV programme development. Standing approximately 58.3 m tall with a 3.8 m core diameter and generating 3,827 kN of liftoff thrust, it represented an early design option. Conceived around 1998, this Phase 1 alternate fairing concept was part of the competitive EELV source selection process that led to the final Atlas V design.
