Mission Profile

The Eclipse Astroliner (EXPRESS) (Ecliptic Eclipse, Experimental Prototype Reusable Space System) was a proposed two-stage American tow-launched reusable launch vehicle concept, designed to be towed to altitude by a modified Boeing 747 before releasing and igniting its rocket engines. Conceived around 1998, the Eclipse Astroliner was an innovative approach to reusable launch that conducted some tow-launch demonstration flights but did not progress to orbital capability.
