Mission Profile

The SLS Block 1A Crew (2011 Concept) (Space Launch System Block 1A Crew) was a proposed two-stage American super-heavy launch vehicle concept in the SLS family, an intermediate evolution with an upgraded Exploration Upper Stage for increased beyond-Earth-orbit crew delivery capability. Standing approximately 97 m tall with an 8.4 m core diameter, it was designed to bridge the gap between Block 1 and Block 2. Conceived around 2011 under the Space Launch System programme, the Block 1A concept has evolved through multiple design iterations as the SLS programme has matured.
