Mission Profile

The Spiral (Spiral 50-50, MiG-105, BOR) was a proposed two-stage Soviet air-launched reusable spaceplane concept, an ambitious system envisioning a hypersonic carrier aircraft launching a small orbital spaceplane. Conceived around 1965 under the Spiral programme, the system was studied extensively and led to the BOR series of subscale test vehicles but was not developed to full scale, though its technology influenced the later Buran programme.
