Mission Profile

The Delta M (Thor-Delta M, DSV-3M) was a three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, a Long Tank Thor variant with improved upper stages for increased payload capacity over the Delta N. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 61 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 540 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in September 1968, the Delta M launched NASA ITOS weather and Pioneer scientific satellites during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
