Mission Profile

Jupiter (DIRECT v3.0) 246 Lunar Crew 10m is the largest proposed configuration from the grassroots DIRECT heavy-lift proposal, using Space Shuttle Main Engines and advanced solid rocket boosters to achieve super-heavy-lift performance for crewed lunar missions. Standing 94 meters tall with a 10-meter fairing, it was designed to support lunar orbit rendezvous missions with a separate lander. The DIRECT team formally presented these concepts as a lower-cost path to lunar return but NASA selected the Space Launch System instead.
