Mission Profile

The Atlas D Modified Mk 3 (SM-65D) was a two-stage American test vehicle in the Atlas family, an Atlas D ICBM variant configured with a Mark 3 reentry vehicle under the Atlas ICBM Program. Standing 25.1 m tall with a 3.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 118 tonnes, it generated 1,630 kN of liftoff thrust. First flying in October 1959, the Atlas D Modified Mk 3 was used for ICBM reentry vehicle qualification testing.
