Mission Profile

The Thor DSV2A Ablestar (Thor-Ablestar 2) was a two-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, pairing a Thor first stage with an improved Ablestar restartable upper stage under the Thor IRBM Program. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 52.6 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in September 1963, the Thor DSV2A Ablestar launched military Transit navigation satellites and other government payloads.
