Mission Profile

Atlas V HLV (Atlas V Heavy) is a proposed triple-core heavy-lift configuration of the Atlas V studied during EELV program planning, analogous to the Delta IV Heavy but using three Atlas V Common Core Boosters in parallel. Studied around 2003 with a 29,400 kg LEO capability, the concept was assessed for US national security payloads requiring maximum lift performance. The design was not funded for development as the Delta IV Heavy was selected to fill the heavy-lift EELV requirement.
