Mission Profile
The Thor LV2D Burner-1 (MG-18) (Thor LV-2D Burner-1) was a two-to-three-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, pairing a Thor first stage with a Burner-1 solid-fuelled upper stage under the Thor IRBM Program. Standing 23.5 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 52.2 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in January 1965, the Thor LV2D Burner-1 launched classified military payloads from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
