Mission Profile

The Jupiter (DIRECT v3.0) 120 LEO Cargo (DIRECT v3.0 Jupiter-120) was a proposed two-stage American launch vehicle concept in the STS family, the smaller crew/cargo variant of the DIRECT proposal using modified Space Shuttle hardware with a single RS-68 engine and two five-segment solid boosters. Standing approximately 87 m tall with an 8.4 m core diameter and a projected LEO capacity of 37,000 kg, it was the baseline configuration. Conceived around 2010, the Jupiter-120 was the most practical DIRECT variant but was superseded by NASA's Space Launch System programme.
