Mission Profile

Delta III (Delta 8930) is a medium-lift launch vehicle developed by Boeing as a stepping-stone between the Delta II and Delta IV, featuring a cryogenic liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen upper stage and nine GEM-46 solid strap-on boosters. First flying on 27 August 1998, it stood 35.4 meters tall and could deliver 8,292 kg to LEO. Delta III suffered two launch failures on its first two flights before achieving one partial success, leading to early retirement without commercial orders as the Delta IV program took priority.
