Mission Profile
The Thor Agena D (Thor SLV2A Agena D) was a two-stage American launch vehicle in the Delta family, pairing a standard Thor first stage with the versatile Agena D restartable upper stage under the Thor IRBM Program. Standing 23.5 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 56 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust. First flying in June 1962, the Thor Agena D became one of the most prolific military launch vehicles, launching hundreds of classified reconnaissance, signals intelligence, and early warning satellites into polar orbits from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
