Mission Profile

Titan IIIA (SLV-5A) is the initial test configuration of the US Air Force's Titan III medium-heavy launch vehicle, flying the Titan II core stages without the large solid rocket motors that distinguished the operational Titan IIIC. First flying on 2 September 1964, it stood 39 meters tall and could deliver 3,600 kg to LEO using the Transtage upper stage. Titan IIIA served as the development platform for testing the Transtage and verifying the core stage performance before the solid boosters were integrated.
