Vyosta
🇷🇺Vyosta Rocket
Mission Profile
Vyosta is a Russian commercial suborbital and near-orbital launch vehicle derived from the R-29R submarine-launched ballistic missile, used to conduct scientific experiments and carry small payloads on high-altitude trajectories. First flying on 4 October 1997 from a submarine in the Barents Sea, it offered a low-cost route to brief access to the space environment for microgravity and atmospheric research. Vyosta operated alongside the similar Volna and Shtil vehicles as part of Russia's effort to commercialize retired naval missile hardware.
