Mission Profile

The New Shepard (Blue Origin New Shepard, NS) is a single-stage American reusable suborbital launch vehicle in the Blue Origin family, designed for space tourism and microgravity research flights above the Kármán line. Standing 18.3 m tall with a 3.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 75 tonnes, it generates 1,020 kN of thrust from a single BE-3 hydrogen/oxygen engine. First flying in April 2015, the New Shepard has conducted numerous successful crewed and uncrewed suborbital flights, carrying paying passengers and research payloads to over 100 km altitude with routine propulsive booster landings.
