Mission Profile

The PSLV-XL (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) is a four-stage Indian launch vehicle in the PSLV family, the most powerful standard configuration featuring six extended PSOM-XL solid strap-on boosters. Standing 44.4 m tall with a 2.8 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 320 tonnes, it generates 4,860 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 3,800 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in October 2008 with the Chandrayaan-1 lunar mission, the PSLV-XL has become ISRO's most frequently used configuration, launching the Mars Orbiter Mission, navigation satellites, and numerous commercial payloads.
