Mission Profile

The RTV-A-2 Hiroc (High-Altitude Rocket) was a single-stage American sounding rocket in the Aggregat lineage, one of the earliest indigenous American research rockets developed alongside captured V-2 launches. Standing 5 m tall with a 0.3 m diameter, it was a small liquid-fuelled vehicle. First flying in July 1947, the Hiroc conducted early upper atmosphere research at White Sands Proving Ground during the dawn of the American rocket programme.
