Mission Profile

The L-3H (Lambda-3H) was a two-stage Japanese sounding rocket in the Lambda family, an early solid-fuelled vehicle developed by the University of Tokyo's Institute of Space and Aeronautical Science for atmospheric research. Standing 5 m tall with a 0.3 m diameter, the L-3H was a small research rocket. First flying in March 1966, the Lambda-3H was part of Japan's pioneering sounding rocket programme that built the expertise leading to the Lambda-4S, the first Japanese orbital launch vehicle.
