Mission Profile
The VLM-1 (Veículo Lançador de Microssatélites, Microsatellite Launch Vehicle) is a planned three-stage Brazilian small launch vehicle in the VLS family, designed for dedicated microsatellite delivery from the Alcântara Launch Centre. Standing 13 m tall with a 1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 28 tonnes, it can deliver 150 kg to low Earth orbit. With a planned first launch around 2027, the VLM-1 is being developed with German cooperation and represents Brazil's renewed effort to achieve indigenous orbital launch capability after the VLS-1 programme setbacks.
