Mission Profile

The Simorgh (2stage) (Safir-2) is a two-stage Iranian launch vehicle in the Shahab-5 family, Iran's larger orbital-class rocket designed for small satellite delivery. Standing 27 m tall with a 2.4 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 87 tonnes, it generates 2,680 kN of liftoff thrust and can deliver 350 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in April 2016, the Simorgh has experienced a troubled development with multiple failed orbital attempts, though it represents a significant step in Iran's indigenous space launch capability.
