Mission Profile

The Ariane 44P (AR44P, A44P) was a three-stage European launch vehicle in the Ariane 4 family, a configuration using four solid-fuelled PAP strap-on boosters for cost-effective moderate geostationary transfer orbit performance. Standing 58.4 m tall with a 3.8 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 360 tonnes, it generated 4,688 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 3,460 kg to geostationary transfer orbit. First flying in April 1991, the Ariane 44P was the most affordable four-booster Ariane 4 configuration, serving the commercial satellite launch market for over a decade.
