Mission Profile

The Scout X-2 (Scout X2) was a four-stage American launch vehicle in the Scout family, an early variant in the Scout programme with first-generation solid motors. Standing 22 m tall with a 1.1 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 17.7 tonnes, it generated 464 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 59 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in March 1962, the Scout X-2 launched small scientific satellites during the earliest years of the Scout programme, establishing the vehicle's reputation for low-cost dedicated small payload delivery.
